I seem to have to broach this subject every few years, but what I am about to touch on offends me (as well as others in the class). And I will be blunt. Some of you do not seem to know what a bath or shower is and do not seem to have a concept of what soap and deodorant are for. Basically you stink. If you do not bathe regularly (and for most of us it is daily) and you offend my nose, I will not have you in my office nor will I talk to you unless you are about 20 meters away.
Many of you hope to be health professional. When was the last time you noticed a doctor or a nurse with B.O? Probably never. On the other side of the coin, have you ever noticed a nurse or doctor wearing cologne or perfume? At least in a classroom setting, a little nice, and a lot is not.
When I get LOR forms, many ask a question or two about the “appearance” of the individual. Is this person dressed professionally? I don’t mean guys have to have short hair, but is the long hair look like a rat’s nest and oily? Or is it neatly combed and clean? I don’t care if you have facial hair… but is it neat and clean? Is your mustache acting as a filter as you eat? You do not have to come to class in slacks, a button down shirt, and a tie… but are the faded jeans clean… or will it stand up by itself if you are not wearing them? I don’t care of your pants hang down to your knees, but I don’t want to see your crack.
Does she come to class in a micro-mini skirt? Enough make-up for an army? Are your low-riders so low that I can see your thong panties? I do not care if you have a mohican (sp?) haircut or if it is long and green. Is it neatly combed?
Even if you hope to become a researcher, if you are on the “wrong” side of the comparison, no one will be interested in working with you. No one will be interested in hiring you.
Enough said.
Chicka chicka yeahhh

Planning is sometimes just a form of procrastination.
